Library Services
1. Who can borrow from the library?
Borrowers are:
·         Current Students of Dante Alighieri
·         Members of Dante Alighieri
The library service is free for the above borrowers. A deposit of $50 has to be paid for the first time to use the library and it will be refunded when the card is expired.
Students can get a library card at the lending desk.
2. How many items can you borrow?
You may borrow a maximum of THREE items of library materials.
3. How long can you borrow?
The maximum lending period for materials classified as lendable is 21 days.
4. How to borrow?
Please take your items and your valid membership card/library card to staff at the lending desk. The items will be loaned using a computerised lending system, and the date for return will be stamped on the date label inside each item.
Please Note:
Without your membership card/library card you will not be able to borrow or renew items. All items are subject to recall if another reader reserves them.
 
5. How to return items?
 
When you return items at a lending desk, please wait for the assistant to cancel the loan on the computer system.
You are personally responsible for any items you have borrowed until the loan is cancelled. Fines are charged on items which are returned late.
The overdue charge is $2 per day for each loan item.
6. How to reserve library materials?
If you reserve an item someone else has on loan, it will be kept aside for you for a week when it is returned. 
You can reserve a maximum of three items of library materials. Please contact our staff by phone or by email with mail subject as "Library - reservations".
7. How will the library contact me?
Our policy is to send notices about recalled items, overdue items or imminently due items to your registered email address. Please check your email regularly if you have books on loan.
8. How to renew loan items?
Unless already reserved, each loan item may be renewed for up to TWO consecutive times with a period of 21 days for each renewal. Items can be renewed:
·         in person at the lending desk
·         by telephone at +852 2832 9799
·         by email with mail at dantealighieri@ladante.cc with mail subject as "Book renewals"
9. What happens if I damage or fail to return loan items?
The lost/damaged book charge has to be settled immediately if borrowers wish to restore their library privileges.
